Dr. Lory Hawkes

Lory Hawkes has a doctor of philosophy degree from Texas Christian University in Rhetoric and Composition. Her dissertation, "Rhetorical Enterspace: Human-Computer Collaboration in Hypertext," was the first new media dissertation in the TCU program and explored the rhetorical implications of the hypertext interface. She has a master of arts in English from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her thesis, "Mau Mau: Days of Disillusionment," explored the literary works that portrayed the societal implication of British rule on Kenyan custom, tradition, and values during the turmoil of the Mau Mau Revolution. She has a bachelor of arts with honors from the University of Texas at Arlington. Currently, she is researching the intellectual contribution of women to the development of the World Wide Web. She has authored two books:
With her co-authors Christina Murphy and Joe Law, she completed the extensive bibliography: The Theory and Criticism of Virtual Texts: An Annotated Bibliography, 1988-1999. She has authored essays and numerous conference papers. She is a Fellow in the Society for Technical Communication. |
