Professor Dobbs Willis received a master in Journalism from the University of North Texas. She also received a bachelor of arts from Baylor University. Currently, she is focusing on teaching. She has twenty-one years experience teaching technical/business writing, career development, speech, and critical thinking and problem solving in the bachelor and associate degree programs at DeVry University, Irving, Texas.

Currently, Professor Dobbs Willis coordinates and directs career development courses as Career Development curriculum lead and serves on the DeVry/Dallas Strategic Planning Committee. She was also a contributing author for the DeVry University GenEd E-Zine, Innovations and a member of DeVry/Dallas Facilities Planning Committee. Also, as a member of the DeVry University Technology in Education Task Force, she served as point person for writing the “Remote Access Technology” section of the Vision and Standards document that guided the intial infusion of technology in education at all DeVry campuses.

For ten years as publicity point person for the DeVry/Dallas campus, Professor Dobbs Willis wrote numerous press releases, developed media contacts, distributed press releases, and coordinated various publicity efforts. She is a member of several professional organizations including:

American Society for Engineering Education
  • Editor of the Gulf-Southwest Region newsletter, 1995-1997, and member of the GSW Region Board of Directors
  • Presented papers at Gulf-SW Section Annual meetings including:
    • "Interdisciplinary Writing: Teaching Engineers to Write Effectively” Awarded Second Place- 1992
