Advanced Composition

The English135 Honors Course builds on advanced conventions and techniques of professional composition through in-depth reading requirements and longer, more sophisticated essays. English135 Honor students also review current debates and current public issues.

Assignments require extensive revising and editing for various audiences. Students are also taught research strategies for accessing a variety of print and electronic resources on and off campus. This course strengthens students writing and research skills in preparation for future English honor courses. (Engl 227Honors). Coming into this course, students are expected to be able to produce a well crafted essay, be able to do research in a library and on the Internet, know MLA documentation style, and be able to use logical arrangement and persuasion.
